CỤ LÁNG GIỀNG

Bạn không thể không cười ha hả khi đọc hết bản tin nghe như chuyện lạ có thực của một trong những người cao tuổi. Cụ bà là Cô Láng Giềng 92 tuổi đã truyền cảm hứng sáng tác bài thơ nhại CÔ LÁNG GIỀNG của Nguyễn Bính.

OCALA, Florida (AP) – Cảnh sát cho hay họ vừa bắt giam một cụ bà 92 tuổi vì đã dùng súng bắn người hàng xóm (mấy tuổi ?), sau khi người này từ chối yêu cầu được hôn.

Sự việc bắt đầu vào giữa trưa Thứ Hai khi cụ Staudinger vào nhà ông Bettner rồi ở nán mãi mà không chịu về. Sau đó cụ bà đòi được hôn rồi mới chịu ra khỏi nhà nhưng ông Bettner bảo là không.
Khi ông Bettner đang nói điện thoại với cha ông sau đó thì nghe liên tiếp bốn tiếng súng nổ, một viên đạn đi xuyên qua cửa sổ, khiến mảnh kiếng bay tung tóe.
Khi được Reuters phỏng vấn, ông Bettner kể: “Nếu tôi ló đầu lên hơi cao một tí chắc trúng đạn ngay sau ót rồi.”
Ông Bettner còn khai với cảnh sát, cụ bà bắn cả vào chiếc Mitsubishi 3000GT mới mua mà ông rất yêu quí.
Ông Bettner khai với cảnh sát rằng không rõ tại sao cụ Helen Staudinger sau này trở nên mặn nồng tình cảm với ông nhiều hơn, từ khi ông dọn về đây hồi sáu tháng trước. Ông nói ông thường hay đổ rác giúp cho cụ bà nên cụ bà mới suy diễn theo cách khác. Tuy nhiên, hàng xóm giúp đỡ nhau là chuyện thường tình. Cụ Staudinger dọa bắn ông Bettner khi ông thú thật đã có bạn gái.
Cụ Staudinger bị truy tố với tội danh tấn công gây hấn và nổ súng vào nơi cư ngụ của người khác, hiện cụ đang bị giam ở nhà tù Quận Marion. Không rõ cụ có luật sư để bào chữa cho cụ không. (TP).

Hell hath no fury: Woman, 92, 'shoots up neighbour's house after he denies her a kiss'

They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned - but they failed to mention it gets worse with age.

A 92-year-old woman in Florida allegedly resorted to Wild West methods when the object of her affections refused to give her a kiss, pulling out her semi-automatic pistol.

Helen Staudinger allegedly fired four shots into the house next-door in Fort McCoy after her 53-year-old neighbour, rejected her advances.

Dwight Bettner said: 'If my head would have been over just a little bit further, (a bullet) probably would have hit me in the back of the head.'

Mr Bettner is 39 years Staudinger's junior, but he claims the age gap did nothing to deter his elderly suitor.

She went round his house on Monday for a chat, but they began arguing after she stepped in the door uninvited.

According to a police report, he told her 'get your ass out of my house' - but she said she wouldn't go unless he gave her a kiss.

When he refused, she slammed the door, went back to her house - and allegedly reappeared with a pistol.

According to police documents, Staudinger said she planned to 'shoot his car that he loved so much.'

Instead, she allegedly fired four rounds into the house, showering Mr Bettner with broken glass when one bullet went through a window as he stood talking on the phone.

The other three bullets hit the side of the house and Mr Bettner was left unscathed.

The former law enforcement worker told the Star Banner Staudinger had taken a shine to him as soon as he moved in six months ago, but he didn't know why.

He said: 'I've taken her trash out for her, just neighbourly stuff. I guess she just took that as something else.'

Staudinger, a widow, told the Ocala Star Banner her would-be toyboy was a 'smooth talker', and she used to cook meals for him.

She said he would sometimes give her a peck on the lips or a kiss on the cheek afterwards, and they would even go out for dinner.

But she told the newspaper their relationship 'soured' because of his 'lies', and she said he would not pay his way when he went out.

Mr Bettner dismissed her claims, saying she only cooked for him once and he kissed her on the cheek because he was 'trying to be nice to her.'

He said he has a girlfriend of his own and repeatedly rejected her advances. Mr Bettner even claimed Staudinger once tried to strangle a woman she believed was having an affair with him.

Staudinger appeared in court yesterday in handcuffs yesterday, charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

The judge warned her even if she manages to post the $15,000 bail, she is forbidden to contact Mr Bettner, and she cannot live within 500ft of him.

Mr Bettner told Reuters he plans to move out of his rented home. He said: 'I just don't need the stress or the hassle. I thought this only happened to younger people.'

Denied a kiss, woman, 92, charged with shooting neighbor's house

Dwight Bettner said he wished his 92-year-old neighbor would leave him alone long before she fired four shots at his Fort McCoy home on Monday.

Helen B. Staudinger said her relationship with the 53-year-old man soured because of his "lies" and that he was not "paying his way" when they dined out.

On Tuesday morning, in a room at the Marion County Jail where inmates appear before a judge via video, Judge Sarah Ritteroff Williams told Staudinger that even if she posts the $15,000 bail for charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied dwelling and gets out of jail, she still is forbidden to have any contact with Bettner.

The judge also warned Staudinger that if Bettner's residence is within 500 feet of her home, she is not allowed to return home. And, the judge added, she is not allowed to possess any firearms or ammunition.

"I feel pretty good," Bettner said upon hearing the news of the restrictions placed on his neighbor.

Before facing the judge during first appearance, a handcuffed Staudinger, dressed in a red and white jail outfit, told a Star-Banner reporter that Bettner is a smooth talker. She said she liked him and had told him many times about her fondness for him.

Staudinger said she is a widow and that her husband died in 1982, and that is the year she moved to Fort McCoy. She said they had five children, four girls and a boy, and that she was a housewife but also once worked as a supervisor for a chain of cleaners.

She said she used to cook for Bettner when he first moved into her Fort McCoy neighborhood. She said they used to go out and eat and sometimes he would kiss her on the cheek and other times would give her a peck on the lips when she cooked for him.

Staudinger said Bettner told lies and was not paying his way when they dined out.

She also said he had a number of girlfriends coming and going from his residence.

Bettner said he moved to the neighborhood about six months ago and that a couple of months after moving in, Staudinger needed a part for her stove so he drove her to Ocala to purchase the item. On their way back, he said, they stopped to grab a bite to eat and she offered to pay for the meal. He said that was the only time they ever went out to eat.

He said Staudinger once cooked dinner or breakfast for him and he gave her a kiss on the cheek just "trying to be nice to her."

"I've got a girlfriend of my own," said Bettner, adding that he has repeatedly ignored the woman's advances.

When sheriff's deputies arrived shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, Bettner told them he had been hit by flying glass when his neighbor fired shots into his residence.

"I was standing in the bedroom talking on the phone when one of the bullets came into the bedroom," he said. "The other three bullets hit the side of the house."

Bettner said Staudinger has cursed at him and once attempted to strangle a woman she thought was having an affair with him.

While standing in Staudinger's front yard, Deputy Kimberly Minton asked for the gun and Staudinger told her it was inside.

The deputy found the .380 semi-automatic handgun on an end table in the living room. She emptied the weapon and noted a round was in the chamber.

Staudinger told the deputy she had gone next door to talk with her friend, but he wanted her to leave. She said although Bettner had a girlfriend, she was not going to leave the house until he gave her a kiss. They argued, Staudinger said, and she left his home in anger, grabbed the gun and went back to the house and fired several shots.

Staudinger told the Star-Banner reporter, however, that the reason she went to Bettner's home was because he owed her money from the times they went out to eat.

"The more I thought about it, the madder I got," she said.

She denied asking for a kiss before leaving.

She did say the weapon belonged to her.

Staudinger's friend Penny Powell said she heard shots and went to her friend's home to check on her.

"I think she was upset at him," Powell said.

Staudinger was appointed a public defender. Her next court date is April 2.
